DC Fatherhood Initiative
The DC Fatherhood Initiative (DCFI) administers competitive grants for nonprofit, community and faith-based organizations to develop and implement projects that support any of the three authorized activity areas: healthy marriage, responsible parenting, and economic stability. The context for these activities is to create an environment that contributes to the well-being of children.
Program Eligibility
- District of Columbia resident
- Biological or legal parent of a minor child or the guardian of a minor child; or expectant parent
Target Populations
- Previously Incarcerated Persons
- Limited or Non-English Proficient Participants
- Teen Parents
- TANF-eligible, Low-income, Unemployed or Under-employed Parents
Program Access Notice
Grantees must provide services to all eligible persons, regardless of a potential participant's race, gender, age, disability or religion. Grantees cannot, on the basis of race, gender, age, disability or religion, treat one person differently from another in determining eligibility, benefits or services provided, or applicable rules. The projects and activities assisted under these awards must be available to fathers and expectant fathers who are able to benefit from the activities on the same basis as mothers and expectant mothers.
