Ways to Beat the Heat This Summer

The Department of Human Services provides multiple services during the summer months to ensure that homeless persons in the District stay cool and hydrated during instances of extreme heat.
 
Heat Emergency= heat index of 95 degrees
 
DHS Emergency Homeless Facilities

When a heat emergency is called, the following year round shelters remain open until the heat emergency is called off.

The Hyperthermia Hotline provides the following services to persons that are suffering from heat related stress:
